The Republican leader shed light on the current situation on X, βHe was a strong advocate for the United States and a strong ally to freedom-loving countries across the globe. He believed in the might of America to achieve good in the world and dedicated his life to advancing that cause.β

Graham was a chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and was seeking a fifth-sixth Senate term in November. He was known as a central player and an active voice within the party on defense and international affairs.
Graham was a retired air force reserve colonel who specialized as a military lawyer, supported the Iraq war and had long urged military action in Iran.
