ABU DHABI LAUNCHES ‘NABDH AL MANHAL’ AND ‘NABDH AL WAHA’ COMMUNITY HUBS
New hubs strengthen family well-being, social cohesion and community engagement across Mohamed Bin Zayed City
Abu Dhabi(Web Desk):: The Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD), in cooperation with the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has launched two new community hubs, Nabdh Al Manhal and Nabdh Al Waha, in Mohamed Bin Zayed City.
The new hubs are part of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to develop integrated residential communities that place families and residents at the centre of community development. The initiative also coincides with the Year of the Family 2026, highlighting the importance of family stability, quality of life and social cohesion.
The expansion follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and builds on the success of the Nabdh Al Falah hub.
The Nabdh hubs provide community spaces within residential neighbourhoods where residents can participate in programmes and activities designed for children, youth, parents, senior citizens, people of determination and other community groups.
Facilities include outdoor gardens, the Majlisna initiative operated by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, a fully equipped multipurpose hall, shared spaces for community programmes and events, dedicated rooms for children and youth, and sports facilities.
The hubs will offer programmes across five key areas: social and recreational activities; health and sports; education and skills development; social empowerment; and cultural programmes promoting national identity.
The opening of Nabdh Al Manhal also coincided with the inauguration of the Mohamed bin Zayed City Community Event Hall by DMT. The multipurpose venue will host family occasions, community gatherings, government exhibitions, national events and other public activities.
On weekends, the hall will host “Medeem” weddings, providing young Emiratis with a suitable venue for marriage celebrations while helping reduce wedding costs and supporting family and community initiatives.
His Excellency Shams Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Chairman of DCD, said the expansion reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to placing people and families at the heart of social development.
He noted that the new hubs will provide integrated community spaces close to residents’ homes, creating opportunities for people to connect, learn and participate while strengthening social bonds and quality of life.
His Excellency added that the Year of the Family 2026 gives the initiative added significance, with the aim of making Nabdh hubs an active part of everyday community life where different generations can meet and participate in programmes that strengthen capabilities, belonging and social connections.
His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of DMT, said Abu Dhabi’s urban development vision is focused on putting people at the heart of planning and creating integrated neighbourhoods where quality of life is experienced every day.
He said the launch of Nabdh Al Manhal and Nabdh Al Waha represents an important step in transforming local amenities into accessible community hubs that bring residents together and strengthen connections within neighbourhoods.
DCD has invited residents of Mohamed Bin Zayed City and surrounding areas to benefit from the programmes, initiatives and activities available at the new hubs. Government entities, private-sector organisations and third-sector institutions are also encouraged to use the facilities to develop community initiatives that support families, empower residents and enhance participation and quality of life.
The launch further expands Abu Dhabi’s network of community hubs and reinforces efforts to create connected, family-focused neighbourhoods across the emirate.
