DCD Leads Abu Dhabi’s Social Sector Participation at LIVEX 2026
Abu Dhabi, UAE – 28 September 2026: The Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi (DCD) is leading the participation of Abu Dhabi’s social sector entities at Life and Investment Expo (LIVEX 2026), being held from 29 September to 1 October at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
The participation will showcase a wide range of programmes, projects and initiatives designed to address the needs of individuals and families, enhance quality of life and strengthen community cohesion.
Held in conjunction with the Year of the Family 2026, the DCD-led participation highlights Abu Dhabi’s focus on family stability and wellbeing, with initiatives designed to support family members at different stages of life. It will also demonstrate how partnerships across sectors can contribute to developing services and creating environments that strengthen family and community connections.
On 29 September, H.E. Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, will participate in a panel discussion titled “Access Is Not an Amenity: Designing Cities for Everybody, at Every Stage of Life.” The session will examine the importance of designing cities and services around the needs of all members of society, while exploring the integration of urban planning and social policy to promote accessibility, participation and inclusion.
As part of its participation, DCD will unveil a number of community initiatives, programmes and frameworks, as well as sign cooperation agreements with partners from various sectors. The initiatives aim to strengthen connections among neighbourhood residents and create greater opportunities for community participation.
The social sector entities will also organise workshops, awareness sessions and interactive discussions highlighting services and initiatives available to different community groups. The activities will focus on family stability, community cohesion and improving quality of life.
A key feature of DCD’s participation will be the “Districts Dashboard,” a decision-support tool that brings together quality-of-life and development indicators at the district level. The platform helps identify residents’ needs, set priorities, direct programmes and resources according to the requirements of each district, and monitor the impact of government initiatives.
DCD will also highlight its Disability-Friendly Cities and Communities Framework, which provides an integrated approach to developing environments and services that respond to the needs of People of Determination. The framework links accessibility to facilities, services and technologies with participation in family and community life, supporting empowerment and equal opportunities.
In the dedicated “Community Zone,” visitors will be able to explore social sector programmes and projects through interactive screens and information sessions explaining their objectives and impact on individuals and families. Visitors can also engage directly with teams responsible for the featured initiatives.
DCD is inviting visitors to explore its projects at the Abu Dhabi Government Pavilion and discover social sector programmes in the Community Zone, while taking part in discussions and activities highlighting the importance of partnerships, data and community participation in enhancing quality of life across Abu Dhabi.
