Horrifying viral videos circulated all over social media shows the moment a fire broke out at the New Yearâs party at Swiss ski resort bar âLe Constellationâ that claimed the lives of at least 47 people and injured more than 100.
The President of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin during a press conference on Thursday, January 1, 2026, called the disaster âone of the worst tragedies the country has ever experienced.â
Tributes continue to grow outside Le Constellation bar as investigators probe the cause of the blaze, which prosecutors say may have started when sparkling fountain candles on champagne bottles were held too close to the ceiling.
The incident portrayed a powerful firsthand account from the scene of one of Switzerlandâs deadliest fires in recent history, reports The Sun.
A teen survivor of the tragic Swiss bar blaze has revealed how he ran back inside to save trapped victims of the massacre that killed 47 people.
A 19-year-old courageous student, Ferdinand Du Beaudiez, who saved more than ten victims, was partying with seven friendsâincluding his brother and girlfriendâinside Le Constellation when it went up in flames in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.
Ferdinand, from France, described the horrifying moments inside the blaze, saying: âI felt this fireball over my head⌠I couldnât breathe!â
The fire reportedly started from fireworks on champagne bottles that ignited the barâs highly flammable ceiling foam, spreading rapidly. Ferdinand criticized the barâs lack of emergency exits, calling it âimpossible for this place to operate safely.â
He rescued severely burned friends, while his brother remains in a coma.
Authorities are still investigating the cause and safety failures at the bar where nearly 50 people were killed and more than 100 injured during the tragedy.
Moreover, Ferdinandâs brother, Tristan Fisher, said his 17-year-old brother smashed windows and pulled people from the bar when the fire took hold.
As the fire tore through the venue, Ferdinand fought through the surging flames and made for a narrow staircase before scrambling to safety.
The teen, who was holidaying with family in the Alps, told The Sun, âI took my girlfriendâs arm, and I screamed to everyone, âGet out.â
âThere were so many people on the stairs trying to get out that I lost her arm. I reached the top of the stairs but fell to the ground.â
But Ferdinand refused to leave his friends and brother to perish inside and ran back in to find them.
He informed that his brother knows of at least two students from his university who are missing.
Tristan is worried his brotherâs mental health has been permanently affected: âHe hasnât properly spoken; he hasnât properly slept since.â
The 20-year-old further added that his anger is directed towards Le Constellation, and he supports an investigation into the barâs safety measures and says it has a lax attitude towards underage drinking.
