TikTok Expands AI Transparency and Digital Literacy Initiatives Across MENA

Platform introduces new AI education resources, enhanced transparency technologies and stronger detection systems to promote responsible AI use

Dubai(News Desk):: TikTok has announced a series of new initiatives across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) aimed at helping users better identify, understand and engage with AI-generated content, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to transparency, responsible innovation and digital literacy.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape digital creativity and content discovery, TikTok is expanding its efforts to ensure users can confidently navigate AI-powered experiences. The latest initiatives include new AI literacy resources developed with leading experts, enhanced systems to detect AI-generated spam, and broader industry partnerships designed to improve transparency and trust.

Building on its existing integrity measures, TikTok revealed that it removed more than 86 million fake accounts during the first quarter of 2026. The platform will now begin testing advanced detection technologies to identify accounts dedicated to posting AI-generated spam. The enhanced systems will initially focus on content in sensitive areas that could affect public trust and well-being, including politics and current affairs, financial advice and medical information.

TikTok has also reached a significant milestone in AI transparency, having labeled more than three billion AI-generated videos through a combination of Content Credentials, creator disclosure tools and invisible watermarking technology. These measures enable users to better understand when content has been created or substantially modified using artificial intelligence.

Further strengthening its leadership in AI transparency, TikTok has joined the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Steering Committee. Two years ago, the platform became the first video-sharing service to implement C2PA Content Credentials, an industry-leading standard that helps identify AI-generated or manipulated content. Through its participation on the Steering Committee, TikTok will contribute to advancing the adoption of these transparency standards across the global digital ecosystem.

Recognizing the importance of education in building digital resilience, TikTok has partnered with the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and AI expert Henry Ajder to develop a comprehensive educational guide encouraging the responsible use of AI technologies. The platform is also launching additional educational resources designed to equip users with practical skills to recognize AI-generated content and make informed decisions online.

The company continues to invest in expert-led AI literacy initiatives through collaborations with organizations including No Filtr and Raspberry Pi. Since the program launched in November 2025, educational content produced through these partnerships has generated more than 200 million views. TikTok has invested over US$4 million in these initiatives and plans to further expand their reach across global communities.

Alongside education, TikTok is enhancing its efforts to protect the integrity of content shared on the platform. While artificial intelligence is opening new opportunities for creativity and innovation, the company acknowledges its potential misuse in generating large volumes of spam content that can diminish authentic user experiences.

Across the MENA region, creators are increasingly embracing AI to enhance storytelling, educational content and creative production. From producing original visual experiences to experimenting with innovative production techniques, creators are demonstrating how AI can be used responsibly to unlock new creative possibilities.

To support this growing creative ecosystem, TikTok continues investing in AI-powered tools such as Smart Split and AI Outline, while offering features like Manage Topics, giving users greater control over the amount of AI-generated content that appears in their feeds.

As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, TikTok reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with educators, industry experts and partners across the Middle East and around the world to promote AI literacy, strengthen trust and transparency, and foster a safe digital environment where communities can confidently create, discover and connect.– Ends –
