Louvre Abu Dhabi presents Art in Motion Summer Film Screenings inspired by its Collection

Abu Dhabi(News Desk):: The Louvre Abu Dhabi invites families and film enthusiasts to explore the links between art and cinema through its “Art and Film” program, which offers a series of free film screenings inspired by the museum’s collection.

The “Art and Film” screenings will take place every Saturday from July 25 to August 22, 2026, inviting audiences to discover a carefully curated selection of family-friendly films inspired by some of the most iconic pieces in the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection. Combining cinematic masterpieces with art history, the program explores how narratives, creativity, and cultural heritage are manifested across various artistic expressions.

The performances take place in the museum’s theater, representing a unique extension of the visitor experience, enabling them to interact with the artworks from a storytelling perspective and enjoy a selection of the most popular and widely acclaimed family films.

From July 25 – Aladdin (1992)

The film “Aladdin” is inspired by the artwork “The Carpet Adorned with Jewels,” which embodies the splendor of the Islamic world, its decorations, and its ancient traditions in the art of storytelling. In this animated film, a street thief discovers a magic lamp that changes his destiny.

August 1 – “Wool-i” (2008)
The film WALL-E (2008) was selected to coincide with the screening of the artwork “A+B Orange Squeezer” by artist Jean Tangley. The film shares the artist’s great passion for machines and discarded objects. The Pixar Studios film tells the story of an unexpected human touch in the story of a lonely little robot whose mission is to clean up a deserted planet, before embarking on an unexpected adventure.

August 8 – “Ratatouille” (2007)
Ratatouille (2007) was selected for the family film screenings, and the screening of this film is linked to the artwork “Still Life of the Pantry,” where the ingredients of traditional everyday recipes are elevated through artistic creativity and given symbolic meanings. The film follows the story of a talented rat named Remi, who collaborates with a young man working in a kitchen in Paris to secretly prepare exceptional dishes.

August 15 – Bambi (1942)
The 1942 film “Bambi” is linked to the artwork “August’s Special Hunt,” offering a unique reflection on the relationship between humanity and nature. This classic Disney story follows the coming-of-age journey of a young deer in the forest as he discovers feelings of wonder and sorrow.

August 22 – The Lion King (1994)
This film, inspired by the iconic “Lion King” (1994), was selected for its family-friendly selection to explore the enduring symbolism of the lion as a representation of grandeur and power across cultures. This beloved animated film follows the story of young Simba, who returns from exile to fight for his rightful place in the Pride Lands.
