Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority launches “Safe Ramadan” campaign.
AbuDhabi(News Desk)::The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority launched the “Safe Ramadan” campaign in conjunction with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, as part of its proactive approach to enhancing community awareness of safety and prevention concepts, and establishing safe behaviors to ensure the protection of lives and property during the holy month.
The campaign focuses on intensifying community awareness and implementing field inspection campaigns, in addition to training community members on how to respond quickly to accidents, by disseminating preventive guidelines related to home safety, especially during the preparation of breakfast and suhoor meals, the safe use of electrical appliances and gas cylinders, and reducing the causes of fires and home accidents.
It emphasizes the importance of adhering to safety measures in Ramadan tents and gathering places, and the readiness of fire extinguishing systems and smoke detectors, calling on those in charge of constructing tents to implement the “UAE Fire Prevention Code”, and provide the necessary technical requirements, including a sufficient number of fire extinguishers, and to implement electrical extensions through certified technicians according to approved specifications.
The authority urged families to strengthen safety measures in their kitchens, given the increased use of cooking stoves and electrical appliances. It stressed the importance of cleaning exhaust fans of accumulated grease, having portable fire extinguishers and smoke detectors readily available, and knowing how to use them in emergencies. It also warned of the dangers of oil ignition during frying and of electrical fires resulting from improper load distribution or the use of substandard electrical connections.
ADCD emphasized that the “Safe Ramadan” campaign embodies its ongoing commitment to raising preventive awareness and establishing a culture of safety as a shared societal responsibility, thereby enhancing the security and safety of the community and keeping pace with the objectives of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in building a safe and sustainable environment.
