Earlier, reports claimed someone made a new ransom demand for Nancy Guthrie, allegedly asking for Bitcoin.
This is not the first time an alleged demand for Bitcoin was made in the 84-year-old case, whose captors have still not been apprehended.
But regarding the latest ransom claim, Michael Ruiz, a reporter at Fox News, dialed in to his sources to investigate.
However, what he found was that officials have not heard anything about such a new demand.
Ruiz said in a tweet on X that he contacted multiple sources from federal to county levels, and none had heard of it.
Thus, he said the latest claim of a new demand for Bitcoin is, at best, unconfirmed.
Apart from that, the ransom notes that the family of Guthrie received came under the scanner.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department released those two ransom notes in July.
But could artificial intelligence have generated them? Retired Colorado investigator Lisa Miller did not think so.
A mistake in the notes, she argued, does not fit into generally error-free, AI-generated content.
“There’s something else; it’s called idiolect,” she told Fox News.
Miller explained, “Idiolect is our personal style of communication, and it can be affected by many things.”
“The region we grew up in, the neighborhoods we live in, and the slang that we’ve adopted.”
Meanwhile, Nancy has been missing for six months.
