ADIHEX 2026 Highlights Saluki Heritage, Canine Training Excellence and Animal Welfare Initiatives
Abu Dhabi(Web Desk):: The 23rd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX 2026) continues to showcase the rich heritage and traditions of the Arabian Peninsula through a dedicated Saluki sector that brings together leading organisations, specialists and enthusiasts from across the canine community. Running until 6 September 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, this year’s edition is the largest and most extensive in the exhibition’s history since its launch in 2003.
Organised by ADNEC Group, Modon company and in strategic partnership with the Emirates Falconers’ Club, ADIHEX 2026 is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club. The Saluki sector highlights efforts to preserve one of the region’s most treasured heritage breeds while introducing visitors to the important cultural role that Saluki dogs have played in traditional Arabian life for thousands of years. The sector offers visitors the opportunity to interact closely with Saluki dogs, learn about their historical significance and discover the role they continue to play in hunting, sport and cultural heritage across the Arabian Peninsula.
The sector also features innovative technologies and solutions related to canine sports and racing. EG Concepts, part of D’Souza Holdings, is showcasing its specialised expertise in the design, construction and operation of racing tracks for Salukis, greyhounds, camels, horses and falcons.
The company is highlighting the latest developments in racing technology, including plans to introduce a patented wireless lure system aimed at redefining traditional racing track operations. Scheduled for market introduction in 2030, the technology is expected to enhance efficiency and support the continued development of racing infrastructure and sporting facilities.
The exhibition additionally highlights the growing role of professional canine training in supporting security, detection and public safety operations. MDK Security Dog Training is demonstrating advanced K9 training programmes that focus on discipline, obedience, security applications and specialised detection capabilities.
The company showcases how carefully selected breeding programmes, structured training methodologies and strong handler-dog relationships contribute to the development of highly skilled working dogs capable of supporting security operations, detecting explosives and narcotics, locating missing persons and assisting in specialised search activities. The demonstrations emphasise the importance of discipline, precision and trust in achieving high performance standards in working dogs.
Animal welfare and responsible ownership also form an important component of the sector. Al Mayya K9 Adoptions, a rescue and rehoming organisation, is participating to raise awareness about dog rescue, rehabilitation and adoption.
The organisation works to rescue stray and abandoned dogs, provide veterinary care, rehabilitation and behavioural training, and help place them in suitable homes. Through interactive activities and public engagement initiatives at ADIHEX, visitors can learn more about responsible pet ownership while meeting rescue dogs that have successfully completed rehabilitation programmes.
The exhibition also introduces younger visitors to the legacy of the Arabian Saluki through the dedicated Saluki Zone at the ADNOC Young Hunters & Riders Village, where families can learn more about the breed’s historic connection to life in the desert. Through interactive activities and direct engagement with Saluki dogs, the zone offers children and visitors an introduction to one of the Arabian Peninsula’s most distinctive heritage breeds and its enduring place in the region’s cultural traditions.
The Saluki sector reflects ADIHEX’s broader commitment to preserving heritage, promoting innovation and supporting animal welfare.
